Areas of Focus
Depression
Everyone experiences periods of sadness in life. However, for people with depression, these feelings are far more intense, persistent, and do not simply fade away. Depression is a serious mental health condition linked to changes in brain chemistry. These changes can interfere with the brain’s ability to send and regulate neurotransmitters, which play a key role in maintaining positive emotions and overall well-being.
A variety of factors can contribute to the development of depression, including:
- Genetics
- Medical conditions
- Challenging life circumstances
- Hormonal changes
- Stress
- Grief or loss
I am here to provide individualized treatment tailored to each person’s unique experience with depression.
Anxiety and Panic attacks
While many people experience anxiety at some point in life, those with an anxiety disorder feel persistent and overwhelming worry. The intensity of these feelings is much greater than what most people experience and can interfere with daily activities, work, and relationships.
I offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for anxiety disorders. CBT is recommended by the National Institute of Mental Health as an effective approach for managing anxiety.
